Foresight

A discipline focused on anticipating possible futures to inform present-day actions and strategic decisions helping to ensure they are relevant and responsible.

Foresight professionals or teams may use many methods including Design Research approaches such as Speculative Design or Design Fiction, but also other techniques from outside of Design Research such as Horizon Scanning, Trend Analysis, and Backcasting.

The aim is often to identify emerging patterns and potential scenarios, helping to make strategic decisions and mitigate risk.
