Prototyping

Prototyping is the process of creating an early sample, model, or preliminary version of a product, system or concept. It is a useful activity to validate ideas. Prototyping plays a different in Design Research than prototyping in commercial design. In commercial design, prototyping is usually just helping the designers get towards their final design, but in Design Research prototyping is helping produce new insights and knowledge. In all cases, prototyping is a crucial part of most design processes.
