The Internet of Things (shortened to IoT) is a term for all of the devices we have around us that are part of the internet, for example things like smart speakers, lightbulbs, and televisions. IoT is significant in the history of Design Research because as IoT grew and grew through the 2000s and 2010s, the demand for future-focused Design Research grew alongside it.
